Mothers of Grace

The Mother of Grace Club is a historic Gloucester, Massachusetts-based group of Italian-American women formed during World War II to pray for the safe return of loved ones in the armed forces. Founded by Frances Aiello and Mary Frontiero, the group was officially chartered on May 26, 1953, and has traditionally gathered at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church.

Founded in the early 1940s by local women, the club supported each other through prayer during the war, in which 40% of Gloucester's male population served. Their motto is "Pray for Peace," focusing on the safe return of service members. The group is known for fundraising through bake sales and events to support their work, often gathering to sing Italian hymns and pray the rosary. The club still holds events, such as an annual Mass in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Mother.
